The Governor signed into law an increase in the real estate salesperson qualifying course hours from the current 45 to 75 hours effective
July 1, 2008.

The new law will also require that office managers hold some category of a brokers license (associate broker minimally) in order to function as such.

In order to qualify for a NY Brokers license, TWO years of qualifying experience will now be required (up from one year before).

After July 1, 2008, there will no longer be an exemption from the 22.5 hour / every 2 year requirement (once 15 years of continuous licensure is achieved) that brokers currently enjoy. This action does NOT affect anyone currently licensed and exempt or who WILL be licensed appropriately prior to the July 2008 change.

The Department of State can now approve computer-based and online learning for the Salesperson & Broker programs. No school is currently approved to offer the qualifying courses via distance learning. The moment NYS works out the logistics - we will offer the programs online as well.
